How to write a report intro

A report intro answers the question the piece was asked. After the first paragraph, the reader has the finding. They do not have the parts yet.

That is the whole job.

Sentence two continues sentence one, the way speech does. If the reader has to guess why the second sentence is there, it is not an intro. It is the start of the body, parked too high.

The parts — dates, mechanisms, quotes, who said what — wait. Putting them in the first paragraph is the inventory fault already named in /Users/n1/Projects/llm-knowledge-base/wiki/Writing Craft/Opening Doors.md. Sentence one can be fine and the paragraph still fail two sentences later.

This is not a wiki opener and not a personal-page intro. Those have their own files. A report that answers “did Fable and Opus get dumber?” needs a paragraph that answers that, not a list of why.
