30-Day Challenge – Retrieval

Week 1: Basic Retrieval Practice

Replace passive review with active retrieval. After engaging with material, close the source and attempt to reconstruct key ideas from memory. Focus on the act of retrieval itself rather than accuracy.

Week 2: Varying Retrieval Conditions

Experiment with different ways of retrieving information. Use teaching, problem-solving, or writing from memory instead of only one method. Notice how different conditions expose different gaps.

Week 3: Increasing Retrieval Difficulty

Raise the challenge level of retrieval attempts. Reduce cues, increase time between exposure and retrieval, or combine multiple topics. Track how performance changes under higher demand.

Week 4: Using Retrieval as Diagnosis

Treat retrieval sessions primarily as diagnostic tools. Use the gaps and struggles that appear during retrieval to identify weak areas in understanding, then follow up with targeted re-processing.
